Chalong Card Prediction

WOW. This is a thing of beauty. The nice folks at the magic wagon have produced a very nice effect and made it to perfection. The wood is a perfect color and looks great against the inlay. This piece almost reminds me of a Gerlitz product. The effect, while not new is done in a novel way.

Keep the magic coming.

The Amazing Francois Danis

This item arrived recently. Wow! I have been performing magic for a hundred years and can tell you the best secret is one that is usually quite simple. Less work for the performer. All you have to do is to follow the enclosed script or add your own and you will fool the pants off of them. I have several Danis peices, and they are all Keepers! I hope you don’t read this review and I hope you don’t buy this or his other tricks. I can tell you now, that these won’t sit on a shelf, unless you buy two of them. They’re that superb!

Amazing in Effect. Amazing in Quality.

I am so impressed by the quality of workmanship that is coming out of Magic Wagon, especially with their Collector’s Line. This effect is no exception. As a matter of fact, it may be their best effort to date.

When I heard that Howard at the Trickery – whom I’ve always admired for his attraction to hand crafted magic – was working with Magic Wagon to raise the bar on this classic effect (remember Tenyo’s version?), I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I was not let down. This piece is quality from ground up, with attention paid to every aspect of the assembly and finishing. The effect looks magical and works perfectly. I want to use it, but I’m afraid to take it out of its packaging for fear of damaging it.

Don’t worry, I’ll use it. But my hesitation just proves how beautiful this mini-illusion is. If you appreciate proven effects that are crafted with pride, don’t pass this up. It looks wonderful, works flawlessly and makes people crazy when they see it performed.

Costly? Yes. Over-priced? No. When I see this much effort and care put into any product, I consider it an investment, not a purchase.

Stop reading this and buy one now. It’s that good.

Excellent!

Marcelo has created an impressive Card Fountain, based on the original idea by Billy McComb. This unit is reliable and built to last. The remote control allows the perform to activate the unit at any time. Used by many leading professionals. This "special effect" always receives a BIG laugh from the children and those who are a child at heart in the audience. Highly reccommended! If you own a T.V. Card Frame or similar effect, you really could use this item. *****

5 Stars for: Craftsmanship, Ingenuity, and Entertainment!

Readers of my reviews know already how enamoured I am with the items from the Magic Wagon. Their Collecter Line, in particular, is amazing! Well their latest item was developed in collaboration with Howie at The Trickery and it is the best thing they have done so far. All of their work has looked amazing but sometimes the impact of the effect does not match up to the beauty of their creations. Not so with the Sword of The Ring – this is a real fooler for sure.

You show the ornate box very openly and cleanly, take out the ring holder at the bottom and borrow any ring. The spectator places the ring in the holder and it is placed at the bottom of the Ring Tower. Everything is exactly as it looks. You close up the tower and hand out the sword for examination too. You now rest the sword at the top of the tower in two grooves and then slowly but surely lower the sword. Both ends can be clearly seen at all times and yet when you reach the bottom the ring is clearly on the sword and can be taken out by the spectator if desired.

This is a very clean penetration with beautiful props. Reset is immediate and there are no sleights, nothing is added or taken away, etc. There is one thing you have to do but it is trivial and covered beautifully in the routine – there is zero heat on you at the time of this "move". What is particularly nice is that when the penetration takes place the audience can really be staring and they’ll see or hear nothing – it looks very convincing.

The tower unit cannot be fully examined but the sword and holder can be and everything looks clean.

If you have liked their other pieces then for sure you will get this. However, if you want only one piece then this would be it. Why not start your collection today – they have plenty more items on the way too!

Highly Recommended!

Simple, but elegant in Colin’s hands

This is a simple, old pocket trick, but it’s the workmanship that elevates this to a true collectible, not to mention the source of the material used in its construction. The Oak wood is quite old, over 240 years, and comes from the H.M.S. Victory, Admiral Nelson’s ship in the Battle of Trafalgar against the combined French and Spanish armada back in 1805. The arrows have been cut from the Copper Sheet that was taken from the hull of H.M.S. Victory. You don’t have to be British to appreciate these events in history. As a lover of history, holding the compass alone is exhilarating, imagining where this wood has been in over two centuries.

The oak is a beautifully grained specimen as can be somewhat appreciated in the images. You really need to see this with you own eyes. What a magical and truly historical piece to add to my collection from this wonderful craftsman, whose vases are also a beauty to behold (I have five, so far).

Colin also released an "Exotic Wood" version of the Chinese Compass made with black Ebony and Amarillo turned arrows…also very nice, but the Trafalgar Oak Compass definitely takes center stage. Besides, as suggested by Sharron Rose, "…it is a great little piece of magic, now with the added story linking it to The Battle of Trafalgar and Lord Nelson…same brilliant magic routine but now with a nautical flavour!. It is most highly recommended for the discriminating magic collector, but caution, as it may be limited to only ten pieces.

Psych-out (in Lecture Compendium)

This fantastic routine can still be found from Bruce Bernstein (if you know where to look). "Psych-Out" is now included in Mr. Bernstein’s fantastic manuscript, "The Lecture Compendium", available only from him.

About the routine:
This is one of those routines that give you a frightening peek into the mind of a genius. Bruce’s amazing routine for the poker deal is the best in print. His routine breaks from tradition in that it does not utilize ten cards, but his presentation covers the rationale.

Each phase builds upon the last until the truly incredible denouement. This is one of those ideas that really does trouble your mind as you try to comprehend why it works.

This is a routine you will use and enjoy performing as much for yourself as your audience. For the very reasonable price, the manuscript contains a number of excellent routines and essays. Highly recommended (as is anything from Bruce Bernstein)!

Great effect! I love this one.

This is a great effect! I carry one with me every day. It can be used for a lot of different things. Card tricks with a deck of cards. Mental effect with no cards at all. Transpositions! It just has everything. Great story line too. I give it 5 stars for sure. You will love this one, I do!

Pity of a Paddle

This paddle looks good, feels good, and the effect sounds good. Unfortunately, it simply doesn’t work good. The handle of the paddle is basically the same dimensions as a popsicle stick, and just too thin to successfully maneuver and perform the classic paddle move. At least not with any degree of confidence.

Without giving away the method, I can see why the paddle was designed the way it was. The construction allows the paddle to appear the same at the beginning of the routine as it does at the end. Still, one has to wonder who, if anyone, actually performed with this item before it was produced en masse.

As the old adage states, "form follows function." Unfortunately in this case, this form doesn’t function.

Much Overlooked, Highly Practical Nest of Boxes

This is another very nice set of practical nesting boxes. The boxes are small and the mechanism is clever and easy to operate. The mechanism is similar to the Porper Strong Box.

What is particularly nice about this set is that even with the key locked you can get back into the boxes anytime. They are also exceptional value for money at $150.

There are more beautiful boxes, but this set is small and practical and much more likely to be used. They are certainly beautifully made, just not without all the inlays.

Highly Recommended.
