Matthias “Magiro” Weißl invented this effect, likely in late 70s, and named it “Mikro Ringautomat.” Upon first importing it in 1984, Howard Schwarzman renamed the effect to “The Witch’s Tunnel” — presumably for the catchier title but perhaps also to hide his source. Magiro’s effect has been remade by both Magic Wagon as “Ring thru Sword Mystery,” and the legendary Richard Gerlitz as “Sea-Ling’s True Love.” Magiro made the gimmick itself, which has magnetic, wood, and steel components. However this gimmick is housed within plastic, which was manufactured by Werner “Werry” Geissler — yet another underrated German inventor.

The gimmick is simple but brilliant. It appears and vanishes in the blink of an eye. The working is entirely mechanical and foolproof. You must ditch something to end clean, but the misdirection is so strong that this should not be a problem. And then everything can be examined, the base, cover, pin, and ring. One of Magiro’s finest inventions, and well worth the hype.

What can I say about this beauty?  One of my all time favorite effects in magic is The Wandering Mummy and apart from the Eddy Taytelbaum version, which one day I will pony up the cash for, I’ve owned a lot of them.  This version is perhaps the cleanest version I have seen.  It is certainly different from all the other versions and I even ordered two sets so that I could keep a set, which is pretty rare for me these days.

Really excellent version of this classic effect, created the way only Magic Wagon know how – with excellence and perfection.  Good luck finding one of these as they are coveted by collectors for sure.

So I’ve wanted one of these bad boys for probably twenty years and finally my good friend George Robinson has created the definitive version.  It looks like a high end mantle clock and works perfectly.  Within seconds any time of day (including minutes) can appear on the clock from many feet away.  The mechanism is 100% reliable and you will just love playing with this.

There is nothing quite like the original and the amazing Gift of Time – get one before production ends!

Here we have another beauty from Craig Beytien. This time a clever piece of mentalism that that has been reduced in size from the original version to make it easier to carry and perform – this is the only 2″ block version set produced. The method is very reliable and is easy to manage using custom circuit boards that were professionally produced and work every time.

Two sets of five blocks on brass rod spindles are displayed. A spectator is asked to place each block into the holder in any sequence, and the magician can match. The blocks are returned to the spindle and again the magician matches the spectator’s sequence. Finally, the magician tells the spectator that he/she has the power too and places his blocks before the spectator does. The spectator matches the magician. Comes with block, holders, spindles, full routine in an aluminum carrying case.

Kent Bergmann is back with his amazing new line of magic: 3D Magic Works and the very positive reviews are flowing in.

This is a clever use of the paddle move to produce a unique Monte effect.  The routine starts off normal enough where you try to find the red dot among the other blues.  Then after a few tries the red dot changes to a green dot and finally the magician admits there was no way they could win, because all of the dots are now blue.  Great little routine with paddles the growing number of paddles in the 3D Magic line.

I love this item from Kent!  One of the things I have commented on before with these 3D Magic items is how fine the tolerances are.  This prediction is a multiple out effect but due to the tolerances of the printing there are no signs of any outs or hidden compartments and everything looks really clean.  So you are left with a very solid and perplexing prediction of any of the pictures that can be freely selected and handled.  This is a very unique looking piece of magic that works smoothly every time.

Kent Bergmann is back with his amazing new line of magic: 3D Magic Works and the very positive reviews are flowing in.

So we come to the end of the first batch of 3D Magic and there are no tears because I see that Kent has already begun producing more.  After reviewing all twenty of his first releases I can safely say that you need a lot more than a just 3D printer to produce these bad boys!  So I feel confident we will be seeing a lot more from Kent over the years to come, even as some others get into this space.

This final item is a real beauty with a unique and clever method that will fool the wisest spectators.  A very clean penetration with nothing added or taken away and props that can be closely examined.  I look forward to the next batch of magic from this amazing creator!

Angelo Carbone’s The Gift is pretty much the perfect effect. It is 100% self-contained, looks exactly like the video, uses props that are above suspicion, has a quick reset, can be performed in a walk-around and close-up situation, and really is an amazing effect to watch. Although I am huge wooden box lover, the fact that this is a simple cardboard box really makes this a better trick. The box looks like a simple gift box that you would purchase at a Hallmark store or online at Amazon, and even up close when held in the specatator’s hand looks above suspicion.

It is not difficult to do, and you’ll understand the workings straight away. It might take you a few tries to get smooth and flowing, but nothing crazy at all and there are no sleights to learn. It uses some tried and tested tools of the trade and brings them altogether perfectly for a really outstanding prediction. Great Stuff!

The Gold Limited Edition is exactly the same as the Black one, just a different, snazzier color of which only a limited amount were made. Not sure if it worth the extra $20 smackers, but for completeness here it is.

It is hard to keep a good man down and Dave Powell is always thinking of new ways to apply his unique skills.  Over the last few years there have been all sorts of deck switching devices come out but none of the are as elegant or as simple to use.  If you need to switch a deck right there in the open I think this is about as good as you are going to get and you’ll do so with style too.  Maybe these wooden boxes are not for everyone, but if you are wood lover like me this will quickly become your go to switching device.

Dave also has a related device which also looks like a winner that you also are likely to want: a Victorian Single Deck Box (with Flap).
