Amazing Mini Magic Mentalism!

So the Magic Wagon have been producing some spectacular magic over the last couple of years but for the most part many collector’s and dealers have not figured out how amazing their magic is. After Martin’s Magic, Howie at the Trickery has been their biggest champion and supporter, but there have been few others. When this item came out it seemed to usher in a new level of amazing and finally turned the heads of some collectors and dealers. Now people can’t get enough of their magic!

This item is another beauty with a clever method and breathtaking props. You show four chairs and three brass prediction plates. The spectator freely places the plates on any three chairs. When the plates are turned over they each have a different color which matches precisely the color on the base of the chair. Now when each of these chairs is turned around they bear the word "Seated" on a brass plate, but on the one they did not choose the plate is empty.

This item can be repeated with a different result each time and is very clean in execution. Each chair is hand crafted of genuine teak and the workmanship is collectible quality.

This is another Highly Recommend item!

Beautiful Classical Magic

So as much as it is great to receive new magic it is also nice to receive old magic that is made correctly. This new line from Howie at the Trickery is a wonderful breath of fresh air with a familiar face. The quality is right there with Mel Babcock and so the items really do look better than the photos. In fact some of the finer wood pieces are almost impossible to capture correctly on film – well certainly by me anyway!

This is a Mini-Card star that uses a mini deck of bicycle cards and the mechanism is smooth and works every time. Thanks to its mini size this beautiful effect will even fit neatly in your magic cabinet without any problems.

I can only hope that Howie will keep this line going for a while – so often with cool magic, just like a great TV Series, you get hooked then it mysteriously vanishes, while Law and Order continues to plod on!

Highly Recommended for Collector’s everywhere, and you’ll be able to perform it too!

Beautiful Classical Magic and Great Mechanism Too!

More classical magic that works as beautifully as it looks. Mel Babcock would be proud of these items as there is certainly similarities to his style. Howie, please keep hold of this new craftsman you have found – let’s not have another Disappearing Jerry situation!

What is particularly pleasing about this item is that the load mechanism works quite differently from others I have see and it works very well. To release either of the double loads you do not need to place your hand inside the box at all, which is particularly useful for productions of spring items and silks.

Highly Recommended for Collector’s everywhere, and you’ll be able to perform it too!

A clever idea!

If you like the classic Pom-Pom Prayer Stick, this item should appeal to you. It is the same basic effect, but instead of pulling open the stick at the end you can see all the way through the middle of the stick because it is totally clear.

I probably prefer the traditional approach, but this is a great fooler for those who know how the other method works.

Amazing and Daring Mini-Illusion!

So I am a big fan of the Delben Two Hole Wrist Chopper and this item I am pleased to announce not only looks better, but works better too! I was very surprised when I received this item from Joe Fairchild as the pictures I had seen online were all painted. This natural wood version is much better!

The construction of this beautiful fooler is a bit more solid than the Delben version and the method is quite different because this item can be examined, which is not possible with the Delben version. Don’t get me wrong, the Delben version is still a wonderful item, but if I had to choose I would certainly go with this one.

If you are looking for a mini-illusion that is a real fooler then this would be the one to choose.

Highly Recommended for Performers everywhere!

The Cocobolo King!

When Doug arrived this week at my home I was very intrigued by the heavy case he brought along with him. As he set the custom table up for his wonderful new effect "Skulduggery" the wood looked amazing and that was when he told me the whole outfit was made out of Cocobolo Wood. Well you normally see this wood used for wands or paddles but to see so much beautiful wood in one place takes your breath away.

This one of a kind piece by Doug is certainly his most ambitious to date, and I must admit to being very impressed. I remember the first time Doug visited my home back in 2001 and he showed me some of his work. Those early attempts were good, and certainly better than anything I could create, but they lacked the refinement of someone who has been working with wood for many years. Over the years he has become more and more confident and these days builds some very fine pieces. This confidence shows in this wonderful new effect: Skulduggery.

As with most of Doug’s work it comes with an interesting and amusing story, but the basic effect is as follows: you show 3 skulls and ask a spectator to remove any skull and place it in the small box, while covering up the other two with the larger box. This is done while your back is turned. Of course without touching anything you can always deduce which skull was placed in the little box. This can be repeated as many times as desired. On the final attempt they again make their selection (there is absolutely no force), and this time you are unable to discern the color. When you look inside the small box on the table, the skull has vanished and when the R.I.P. box is lifted there is a figure standing there, and the color of his eyes matches the missing skull. This is a great surprise ending to an already impressive routine.

The table does all the work for you using some impressive electronics and it is very reliably made. I’d like to see one of these is a smaller close-up setting and think Doug would then have a real winner on his hands!

Keep them coming Doug!

Pleasing his son and Children’s Entertainers Everywhere!

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it: the most consistent creator of unique, collectible and performable magic today is Chance Wolf and his small team at Wolf’s Magic. I have yet to see anything from Chance that is not beautifully made and practical to perform. Just like in Chef Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen, nothing gets out unless it is perfect!

The hardest thing for Chance is to keep all the magicians that have grown to love his beautiful magic happy. There are high-end collector’s, medium-end collectors, cool magic trick addicts, classic recreation collectors, magic speculators, stage performers, close-up performers, and of course children’s entertainers.

With this wonderfully cute effect he gets to please the children’s entertainers and his young son Roagie too! This item is clearly aimed at children – it is suitable for a mixed audience but I think children benefit the most. It comes with a highly entertaining routine to get the most out of the props and will be a hit for kids of most ages. A brief routine is outlined here

This won’t appeal to all of Chance’s fans but I know there are some very happy children’s entertainers out there and one very happy little boy called Roagie!

Highly Recommended for Performers and Collectors of Quality Magic!

More Intriguing and Unique Magic from France!

Francois Danis is on a roll! His latest piece evokes the mysterious and wonderful world of Sherlock Holmes. When I first saw this item I was reminded of the Winston Freer Tile Puzzle. But this is a totally different effect and method.

To an interesting patter story Holmes is challenged by Moriarty to figure out how to take this perfect rectangle and add not one but two pieces to it. What is cool about this item is you show the puzzle filling the box, then you shake it out onto the table and after adding each new piece not only does the puzzle still make a perfect rectangle, when it is replaced into the box (with the two extra pieces) it still fits perfectly into the box with no gaps. It looks exactly as it did before the two pieces were added with no clue as to how this mystery could have occurred.

Everything can be examined too and the reset is almost instant. There is a very simple move which is covered perfectly in the routine and although the method is simple, I think even Sherlock Holmes himself would appreciate how diabolical it is!

The finish on this item is not quite as nice as Francois’ last two Dominoes effects, but it is very close. And I think I prefer this item to perform. Francois really has a nice collection of items now.

Highly Recommended for Collector’s and Performers!

Beautiful and Different Boxes

One of the problems I have with some of the fine nest of boxes out there is that they look like something that just Magician’s would own. Well these boxes look like something from World Market – in fact I have a domino box that I actually bought from World Market that has the same design (sadly I could not find these boxes at World Market!).

So now you can do a wonderful version of the Nest of Boxes, using boxes that really could have been bought from a real store. This makes it all the more mystifying.

These boxes really are wondeful looking, and they work like a dream. They are also very well priced based on the prices that other sets of boxes seem to be fetching.

I must say how impressed I have been with the quality of the new Oriental line from Fantasma Magic – they may be known for their beginner’s line of magic, but these new items are a joy to behold and suited to the most demanding of professionals.

Highly Recommended!

Wow! Still more Amazing Magic from France!

Francois Danis has treated us to some beautiful new magic with his two latest releases. This second one, Dominoes Transposition, is a beautiful version of the old Dizzy Dominoes effect.

The little box that contains the dominoes is amazing – it is made of Mahogany with a wooden inlay pattern in the lid and lined with red felt to protect the dominoes. The dominoes are made of ebony with mother of pearl dots. And they really are beautiful.

Francois details his own routine but you could easily do your favorite Dizzy Dominoes moves. The basic effect has the dominoes moving around and even back and forth to the pocket or switching places in a spectators hands. And of course in the end everything can be examined.

This is my favorite of the two new effects, but they are both beautiful for sure.

Highly Recommended for Collectors and Performers with style everywhere!
