Really Terrific

If you can create a clever presentation, this is a very well thought out prop that —with one exception— works exceedingly well.
The clever arrangement that allows a non-forced —but signed— card to wind up in the serpent’s mouth is genius. However, the concept hasn’t been engineered to the degree of being foolproof. The very smart inventor devised a method for the signed card to appear along with the serpent, but the thread that facilitates this tangled with the coiled spring of the snake. My personal routine, using children and alphabet cards, doesn’t require the actual selected card to be in the snake’s mouth so I just removed the thread.
The supplied basket is fine, but I found a more exotic one. The self-contained mechanism can be placed into anything.
The SUDDEN appearance of the snake is a high point for audience reaction.
This is a great prop.

A Winner

If you want the Cadillac —or Rolls Royce— of Flexible Mirror props, this is the one for you.
It’s beautifully crafted and features hidden gimmicks so it can be shown freely on both sides (unlike some other versions).
This pricy prop may be a bargain in the long run as —once purchased— you’ll never buy another one!

Always Looks ‘Wimpy’

No guillotine in history had a metal blade that severed the victim’s neck without being bolted into some sort of block that added weight to its descent.
The blade appears so light that it would just bounce up from a victim’s neck.
My advice: Save up for something that will make your audience gasp when it’s revealed.

Great Routine, Great Value, Great Mentalism!

This is the first effect I have purchased from Rick Maue and Deceptions Unlimited, and I must say how impressed I am not just with the effect and routine, but the whole package. And for $35 it is hard to imagine a better value in magic today.

The effect is a mulitple revelation of the precise actions that 5 people take with regards to freely choosing blue and red poker chips and builds to an unexpected but very solid climax. It can be performed on stage or easily adapted for the living room, and yes it does pack flat and play big!

The props are simple, but well made and it comes with detailed scripting and photos of the complete routine.

I have been streamlining my routines these days so that my show fits in a small close-up case, but I feel quite sure that this effect will find its way into my show shortly. The build up of the multiple revelations really is quite incredible.

Highly Recommended!

Unusual props for a popular effect

This is quite a collectible, but only because it’s an Anverdi. I have always been interested in the matrix assembly effect and these Oriental "stones" are an offbeat set of props to perform this trick. One problem I have with these small stones lies in their handling throughout the effect. A semi-close fist is recommended in the instructions for that special move and that looks suspicious to me. I would prefer a more flat hand approach but it’s difficult with these small cylinders. It could be just me but clearly plenty of practice and skill is needed; certainly not an apparatus for beginners. I do like the clever "locking" feature in the main gimmick so the "stones" can be passed out for examination at the end.

Beautiful Bob Solari!

My good friend Bob Solari makes a very fine hula girl, as can been seen below:

Hula Bobby
When he isn’t putting on the coconuts, he creates some very fine magic. Over the years I’ve bought a lot from Bobby, and most of it is clever and easy to do. The No-Brainer Memorized Deck is probably my favorite effect that I have seen from Bob so far. It is very easy to do but very effective and really makes you wonder why you would bother with any other approach. Certainly memorizing one of the many Memorized Deck systems out there is a lot more work than most of us amateurs want to put in!

The full description can be found here.

This really is an amazing effect and Highly Recommend from one of the great magical inventors of our time.

You look like a 39!

This card trick is just one of Bruce Bernstein’s great card magic. All of his magic is strong and relatively easy to do but packs a wallop with its effect. This is no different. You can use this in a resturant situation whereby you can approach the table or person with a simple ‘hello’. Then tell them they look like a 39 (or some other number). After a lot of byplay, they select any card chosen that will be their favorite. It will then have their number written on the back of a card. You can then show them that all the cards are numbered from 1 to 52 and that they chose " their number" that you first spoke to them about. This is a great "approach" trick for the working person whether it be club, party, corporate or bar. It never fails to put a smile on the faces of the one you show it to. Powerfull stuff and highly recommended.

Soooo many possibilities with this one!

This item is really cool and effective. I use it to apparently vanish my regular deck of cards to have them appear elsewhere, when in fact this item allowed me to switch seamlessly to another trick deck (rising card, etc.) I would have given it 5 stars if it was sturdier; however, it is made of cardboard and can easily be damaged.

Great story line, Great Surprise, and good handling.

This new routine by Paul Mims holds great promise and almost delivers! It has an entertaining poker based story line and a very visual transformation from 4 aces to a royal flush, it is also fairly easy to do, with an almost instant reset.

Unfortunately, for me a couple of the moves to get to the end don’t seem to flow as well which makes the counting seem a bit inconsistent. I’m sure there is a solution to the handling, and I intend to continue to work on it because I really like the overall routine. In fact, I’m quite sure that lay people probably love this routine as it stands, but for me it just seems a bit inconsistent. It could just be me of course!

I am keen to see more from Paul and his good friend Doug Gorman as they do seem to be producing some clean, strong effects that have great visual impact and interesting storylines. Keep them coming guys!

Just my cup of Tea!

When Doug first showed this to me it held great promise and after a bit of tweaking with Doug it was smoothed out into what I feel is a very clean, visual and entertaining routine.

A red deck of cards is shown to be all different and a prediction is placed face down in front of the spectator. Next a card is selected. The card that they selected is placed on the table face up. You then turn over your prediction and mention "Well the back of the card matches." This is not too impressive, until you spread the full deck and show that they are a mixture of colors. At this point you confess to being prepared in that instance too and spread your prediction card to show that you in fact have 4 cards each with a different back. However, when you turn them over they are all the same except for the red backed card which matches theirs.

Now, the finale comes along as a real kicker and you turn over their card to see the color is a totally different color from any of the other cards – and magically your prediction card has changed too!

What I particularly like about this effect is not only is it visually appealing, but there is plenty room for the spectators to feel you have failed and each time you surprise them by correcting the problem. It also has a very simple and quick reset, so it is great for restaurant work.

I really like the way Doug routines his effects and this is no exception. This is also a great lead in to the Magic Chameleons released by Doug and Paul Mims last year.
