What a big and beautiful piece!!

This big item from Alan, and I mean big in comparison to the rest of his Mini-Magic line, shows throughout the great quality in woodworking one has learned to expect from Alan. The "double" transformations occur smoothly with no obvious maneuvers to arouse suspicion. What clever idea from the devious mind behind so much great magic! Very Highly Recommended

Cute and quite devious

This is a nice little piece from Alan. I always try to figure out the method on any effect I order, but this one surprised me. Not as strong as his other stuff, but then his other stuff is fabulous. I can visualize a very entertaining outcome with just the right presentation. I love teak and this one shows that classic Warner touch.

What a fast switch!

This is a piece from his painted "era" similar to Curio in methodology. White square with hole and solid black square shown. One is placed in lovely black/red hinged box and the other placed in pockets. With a blink of an eye, they change places. Beautiful and pocket size miracle from a discontinued era in Alan’s long career.

Beautiful early Warner item

This is an early painted Warner version of his current teak piece that is still available. Bright deep yellow sides and diamond decor on the lid makes this one nice piece in my collection. I love his teak line and one can see Alan’s maturing skills and ingenuity with these pieces, but you got to love the colors on these early items. Same routine red cube keeps bouncing end to end…duh. But the jump to the center changes everything!

Love this version!

Kubika was recently re-released in teak as part of the Warner’s Millennium Collection that was limited to 12 sets only. This "original" painted item is a joy and a great companion to the teak version. Glossy whites and blacks add such a classy look. Bright orange ribbon imbeds the black block inside the tube but, say the magic word, and it penetrates with ease. What a craftsman…the modern Taytelbaum.

One gorgeous Warner version of a classic

This is an early painted item from Alan; his version of a classic. I have always loved this effect that I had Howard Hale of WoodMagic build me a custom version of his Clear Deception using exotic woods. Alan never released a teak version but it would be difficult to beat this brilliantly painted piece and it sure stands out nicely with my other cherished Warner pieces.

Leave it to Alan to add a twist to this routine. Two, not one, slotted cards are shown, one black and one white. One is chosen and both cards placed in a red holder with a large hole so that the two cards can become trapped to each other by lacing them with a red shoe string. Concentrate and the chosen card rises up loose from it’s string entrapment. Great magic and oustanding props.

WOW,,,What a MUMMY!!

Literally, that was my impression when I unpacked this beauty. I have been an avid collector of Richard’s work and this is one great piece. It’s visually stunning and the method is so smooth and effortless. The apparent "stock" mummies used may put off many but they are, first, beautifully detailed. Second, extensive precision modifications by Richard himself are involved in the mummy and coffins to make this miracle a true handcrafted item. If one read some of the detail steps involved in building this effect, you would no doubt admire Richard’s ingenuity and commitment to excellence, typical of his magic as anyone who owns one his pieces can attest.

Richard has added "drama" to this effect with more realistic scaled props. The base serves so well as a "ritual altar" and center stage to perform this popular mystery…nice touch, Richard. Richard has probably contributed the best version of this effect, though admittedly I also have a soft spot for the Warner Mummy…just love his magic but that is another story. Richard’s new Mummy definitely requires no awkward moves and quite silent in operation. I would definitely rank the Gerlitz Mummy well above the "toy-like" Taytelbaum Mummy that sold recently on ebay at inflated prices…I am sure to get an outrage over this comment!

Richard’s work is becoming one hot collectible and a wise investment. Just see the winning bids on his sold-out items in ebay and you will realize this fact. Also, remember Richard only makes 10 to 20 pieces so they are rare and collectors seem to hold on to these babies so few become available again. Most Highly Recommended. Thanks, so much!

I think "Mini" is an understatement

When I first heard of this Warner item, I figured it would be a nice prop to use for the miniature decks Alan uses in some of his other pieces, so I was quite taken by the size of it when I unpacked it. It will easily hold a full cased Bridge-sized deck. It’s beautiful and pictures really don’t allow you to appreciate it as when you actually hold this box in your hand. The mechanism is smooth and finely crafted. The teak is admittedly simple compared to the richly grained teak in other Warner pieces but Alan wanted the most seasoned wood he had to prevent shrinkage and problems with the drawer. I still love it. It does look "big" among my Warner collection, but I am not complaining.

Grading a Warner item can be a challenge because does one grade his item to the rest of his collection or to all props in general on the market. To keep perspective intact, there are 3,4, and 5 stars within the collection itself, but since I assume I am comparing these items to "everything" out there, then ALL of Alan’s pieces are a clear 5+ stars. Craftsmanship like Alan’s is hard to come by, folks.

A classic in such a tiny prop!

Remember the "Vampire Escape" effect…well, this is similar though the mechanics are, perhaps more sophisticated and much smaller, think pocket size. Not much is visible on the outside but the inside says it all. Remember that this is an all wood item. This is, without any doubt, another example of great craftsmanship from the man who can do it, repeatedly. This is one of Alan’s "earlier" items and is very welcomed in my collection.

Great magic in a very small package

This is a very cute effect. You have a small teak case divided into two adjacent compartments. One side holds a miniature red deck of cards and the other has a blue back deck. One deck is chosen and a card selected in a fair manner. The selected card is inserted in the compartment with the opposite colored deck with the purpose of finding its match in that deck. The case is covered with a teak cover exhibiting a contrasting white/blue banding. The selected card is revealed and the magician is shocked to hear the identity of the card for it is known as the karate kard. He removes the cover and finds that the red deck has been chopped up in its compartment and only one red card remains intact next to the selected card. They match. Beautiful props and clever method, all in one very small package. This is more micro than mini magic for Alan. Love it, but you have to love everything that Alan makes.
