Created by Burling Hull c. 1909 at the tender age of 15. Like so many magicians before me my very first magic effect was a Svengali Deck – it changed my world 🙂 I’ve just started using the Svengali Deck again recently thanks to a effect by Paul Curry.

These are made by Steven Perry who is a professional card mechanic and does an amazing job for just a few dollars more.  These are not bulk manufactured, each deck is made by hand with meticulous attention to quality control and precision.

Belly Strippers were invented by card sharps by 1865, and their main advantage is you can mix them up end for end and always strip out the necessary cards.  These ones allow you to strip out the reds from the blacks effortlessly. So if you ever wanted to do the cleanest version of Paul Curry’s masterpiece: Out of this World, using this deck is the way to go.

This is basically the same as the normal Svengali Deck, however it is reversed.  This means you riffle it in the opposite direction to show all the cards the same and vice-versa.  What is useful about this approach is you can drop cards face-up and they are all different.  It is useful to have both versions as you never know which set you want.  For the Paul Curry effect below the Reverse Svengali is better for a cleaner experience.

The Pop-eyed Eye-Popper Deck is a routine for R.W. Hull’s Nu-Idea Deck created c. 1935. If you want one of the cleanest forces by simply fanning the cards these are the way to go.

This is a variation of R.W. Hull’s Pop-Eyed Eye-Popper Deck which allows you to force up to four cards instead of just one. I’m not sure how useful this is because you lose the easy of forcing which you are used to with the traditional version.
