If you have ever loved playing with the beautiful brass chips of Per Clausen, Eddie Gibson, El Duco and many others you have good old Sam Dalal to thank for that.  Sam created a series of ground breaking chip effects in the late 1970’s and they have been copied and improved ever since.

But Rainbow Chips was the original that paved the way for all these brass miracles all the way from India and Sam The Sham 🙂  And Sam tells me they sold tens of thousands of these bad boys!

Rainbow Chips were inspired by a still older effect called Spooky Spots c. 1948.

This is the second Chip effect Sam created called Super Psychic Chips and like Rainbow Chips it has been copied and “improved” ever since including: Prediction Chips by Per Clausen, Chinese Sting by Eddie Gibson and Colour Coins by Mark Leveridge.

But you have Sam Dalal to thank for the original ideas that seemed to have generated a whole sub industry of Chip Effects ever since 🙂

Review by John Magic for Clearly Impossible Box by Magic Wagon

After a few years of searching,I finally bought a Clearly Impossible Box. I’ve been using the John Kennedy box for years and currently the TCC box. While both of these boxes are very nice, the quality in the look and handling of the Magic Wagon box surpasses both the Kennedy and TCC boxes. It only took me 15 minutes to learn and perform it. It comes with a card index which would have cost an additional $100. I am so very happy with my purchase.

Doing it in my Magic Show at Magic’s Theater in Austin , Texas.
Thank you,
John Magic

The original version of this clever penetration was invented by Mark Jacobs and built by John Snyder c. 1943. That version used a frame and was built for parlor and stage. This version from Sam Dalal in India is quite stripped down and uses just three gleaming perspex plaques and a ribbon.

These are very nice quality and are easy to perform with.

This is a very nice set of clocks for production. They are well made, light and nest into a small space ready to be produced from the smallest production box. Even quite close-up these look real. They would make a great ending to any standard silks production when the last thing the audience is expecting is six full sized alarm clocks 🙂

This is more like it! I have owned a number of versions of this effect – but this is by far the best made, easiest, and most convincing – well apart from the original of course!

The bolt can be examined both before and after, the bolt visibly unscrews itself even with the magician away from the bolt. The bolt can be covered by a glass dome. You can even look inside the case and it just looks like a simple close-up case.

This is the best item I’ve seen from India to date – very good indeed.

If I had any complaints at all – and I’d be pushing myself – the box itself although it looks nice is quite cheap in construction. It would not hold up to be thrown around too much. But at the price point, I’m not sure what else could be done.

If you’ve been burnt with this effect before, now is the time to try again. I really love this effect!

Don’t Leave home without it!

I used this in preference to the German made cane I’ve had for years. It is longer and a bit more startling because its silver. I don’t think any of the appearing canes really look like canes, so why not produce one that looks more magical.

This silver one fits the bill nicely!

This is a nicer looking version of the Fantasio’s Deck Switcher.  It is not great quality if you get in really close, but from a few feet it looks great and it works perfectly.  The best quality version of this type of switch is still Peter Scarlett’s Pimpernel Card Box but the problem with Peter’s version is that it is too small to fit the card case.  This version handles the card case just right.
