Din Daeng Die Vision by Magic Wagon(c. 2007) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)
John Cornelius of San Antonio, Texas was the first to use this principle with his Pinnacle Slate which he sold through his John Cornelius Creations company. Magicians were quick to see the possibilities of John’s discovery and soon many forms of it began to appear without a ‘tip of the hat’ to John. (George Robinson – 6/2/2019)
This is a beautiful and perfect example of how you can combine superb craftsmanship with clever ideas. The effect of course is well known: you hand out a beautiful box and wooden die to be examined and while your back is turned you ask the spectator to place the die into the box, remember the number on the top, and fasten the box shut. There is no way anyone can see inside the box. The magician holds the box at the tip of his fingers, with his eyes turned away, and in full view of the audience just for an instant to get a mental impression of the die. That is all you need and you now know the number on top. There is no peeking and it works every time, without any chemicals or electronics.
This beautiful box is always ready to work and it is a joy to work with. This is my sort of magic for sure.
Effect: This is basically Color Vision outdone. What sets this apart from all others (besides the meticulous craftsmanship) is that it is a radically different method for divining a chosen number on a die. The intricate detailed woodwork on this piece is truly outstanding. A lot of effort went into putting this together…
The die is removed from a beautiful wooden box and both die and box are examined thoroughly by the spectator. The performer then turns his back and the spectator secretly places the die with his favorite number on top into the box and locks it closed. The performer now turns around and holds the box in full view. Without asking a single question, the performer immediately announced the selected number while the box is still locked! The box and die can then be immediately handed to the spectator to examine completely and the effect can be repeated over and over again without fear of detection.
Din Daeng Die Vision is made entirely of teak and completely hand-crafted with brass accents.
The box is the perfect size, 2” cubed, for easy carrying to do table hopping and walk around.
