Reincarnation by El Duco’s Magic

It is one of those items that seems like it will be harder to perform than it is. A switch is required right in front of the audience after all. However, there is not really any heat on you at the time of move as no one is suspecting anything yet.
Once you do it to real spectators you might be surprised of their reaction and that will diminish how big the move is in your mind until you can do it without guilt or fear 🙂
The reset is very fast and I could see performing this a lot once you got over the first time. In that regard it reminds me a lot of John Kennedy’s Mystery Box – I put off performing that for years, but after I did it the first time the result was so strong the effect became one of my most popular live items and I still perform it today.
(Notice: the second watch that is switched does not open and has a different crown button – in fact in the video the crown had fallen out and I didn’t notice it until I took the photos. I’m not sure if this watch was ever opened since it is not allowed in the performance. In practical terms no one is going to notice this, and it does not impact the ability to perform the effect, but I included a photo at the end so you can see what you are getting.)
Effect: You take the watch from your pocket. The watch has a chain. You open the watch case and display the watch face. Ask a spectator to set the time and close the case. Unlink the watch from the chain and put the chain back into your pocket. Introduce a beautiful drawer box made of wood. The spectator puts the watch into the box and close the drawer.
Say the magic word and when you open the box the watch has disappeared! The drawer is empty! Slowly you take the chain from your pocket. Linked to the chain is the watch! Let the spectator open the case to verify the time he has set. It is correct!

I have had Reincarnation by El Duco for some time, but, never performed it before today. I can say that since I have had it, I thought the trick would be hard to pull off. I looked for reviews of this trick on the internet, but, couldn’t find nothing. So, I thought that I would write this review that is coming from a non professional magician that is more of a collector.
The props are very simple, but, beautiful. The teak wood box is also very nice. Sometimes at work, there are tricks that I, say, I test on my coworkers to get a feel and way they react to a trick and their reaction gives me the greatest feedback in the world. Long story short, I was amazed by their reactions! I told them I thought about selling this piece and everyone told me, don’t! That speaks volumes to me.
