Visible Vampire Escape by Viking Mfg.(c. 1990) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)
The original Vampire Block was created by Ben Wallace, see here for more details.
Viking’s version was a real treat for the eyes and rivaled that of the much more expensive Owen version. But sadly they have not been available for decades.
We hate to toot our own horn, so we won’t; I’ll let Tony Spina from Tannen’s do that: “This is the best version of the Vampire Block Escape I have ever sold; better than Owen Magic and that’s saying something. Your magnetic release is brilliant and the silk screen work is incredible. How do you do it for the price? Impossible!”… Thanks Tony.
Effect: A tall wooden tube is displayed. It is painted gloss black and decorated with a silk-screened coffin and a flying bat. The sides are tastefully done with dripping blood. A yellow blood-tipped spike and a red wooden block complete the set.
The block represents Count Dracula and is dropped into the ‘coffin’, then impaled with the spike. The problem is, this only works in the movies. The cord is pulled which is attached to the block and the Count VISIBLY escapes, penetrating the solid wooden stake!
Block and stake may be examined, and you can even show the inside of the coffin. A great bizzare magic effect, suitable for that unusual element in any show. As Tony says, this is the best!
