Pavel’s Silk Serenade (T-25) by Tenyo(c. 1967) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)
As I continue to add to my Color Changing Record Collection you can’t ignore the most popular one of all: Pavel’s wonderful Silk Serenade released by Tenyo.
If you are looking for a flashy yet economical trick – this is it! Pleasing to behold. Smooth as a silk serenade. A black 45 r.p.m. record is placed into a record jacket. A red silk handkerchief is pushed through the hole in the jacket. The record is removed and it has changed color to match the silk – it is red! This is repeated as another black record changes to yellow and a third black record changes to blue! The record jacket is then shown empty! You receive all necessary records (which can be shown on both sides), three silk handkerchiefs, the record jacket and instructions.
Effect: You show three black phonograph records to the audience. The first black record is placed on a record and a colored silk is pushed through the record hole. When you remove the record from the sleeve, it has magically changed its color to that of the silk. This is repeated with the other two records. Nothing is found when you open the sleeve to show the inside .
Did you know that there were different versions of the SILK SERANADE record sleeve? One is printed white and blue, while the more common is plain light blue. Also the cartoon Tenyo logo on the records changes, as the credit of Pavel on the cover of the package.
