Broken and Restored Fan (Break-Away Fan) by Viking Mfg., Brema

(c. 1920,1985) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

Carl Brema created the all metal ribs for the Break Away Fan c. 1920 and it was so successful that he even patented the idea.

Effect: This is a great gag for children and adults. You, as the performer are able to open the fan in normal fashion, but when you hand it to a child, she opens it and the ribs fall apart. You take it back and tap it and it’s restored. You again show them the proper way to open it, yet when they try it again falls to pieces.

Also known as the Break-Away Fan.
