Seven Piccolos by Magie-Studio Bonn

(c. 1959) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)

This clever effect was first released in Germany by Magie-Studio Bonn c. 1959.   It has also been called the Poles of Pundit by Inzani-Henley c. 1966, Five Piccolos by Tannen’s c. 1976 and Die 7 Schwaben by Eckhard Boettcher c. 1990.

The only issue I have with it is I would like the sticks to be a bit longer as they are a little small in my big hands (!), otherwise it is a great little effect.

  • 7 Piccolos (including 2 gimmicked)
  • perfectly contrasting hanky (bonus)

Effect: The performer shows seven brightly colored rods in his fist. These are dropped onto a handkerchief, but when the rods are recounted there are only five! !

The handkerchief is raised and the two missing rods are found underneath! There are other variations that can be performed. For instance, two rods are held in the left hand and one in the right. Suddenly there is only one in the left and two in the right! And the hands do not even go near’ each other.

The effect is easy to perform and you get nice apparatus. No sleight of hand needed. Use the rods for penetrations, vanishes, transpositions etc.
