Daggering by Repro 71, Fred Lowe
(c. 1964,1975) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)Daggering was invented by Fred Lowe c. 1964. This version was released by Repro 71 c. 1975 with no mention of Fred Lowe anywhere. In addition, as released, Repro 71 did not even include the Dagger itself or even an oriental stick.
I added the “dagger” for completeness. What you cannot see in the photos, of course, is the gimmick that makes it all work. Unfortunately, I have not seen an original Fred Lowe gimmick so cannot comment on how close Repro 71’s is. However, Repro 71 do provide a well constructed gimmick which works perfectly for the effect. It just would have been nice to have some mention of Fred Lowe 🙁
Includes:
- Two rings
- Leather and metal gimmick
- Realistic looking dagger (actually a letter opener) (bonus).
Effect: This brilliant effect has the appearance of great skill and clever sleight of hand, yet is brought about by purely mechanical means. The spectator is given a small “dagger” or chop stick/pencil if desired. A finger ring is taken from the performer’s hand and the spectator pushes it into the performer’s fist.
The spectator holds both ends of the stick or pencil … yet despite this the performer VANISHES the ring from his fist and makes it reappear THREADED ON THE CENTER OF THE STICK HELD BY THE SPECTATOR.
Everything is left with the spectator to examine . . . you are left clean and there is absolutely nothing to find. First Class Entertaining Close-up Magic at its very best. Beautifully-made precision apparatus and a top-rate routine that makes it ail so easy. Comes complete and ready to do. Very easy, this fabulous effect requires no skill, so you can devote all your efforts to the presentation.
