The Cat of Raskhenotep by Francois Danis(c. 2009) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)
In the early 1950’s the Swiss magician/inventor Dr. W. Weyeneth invented a trick called “The Vanishing Mummy” (Das Geheimnis der Mumie). Not only did the mummy vanish but Dr. Weyeneth also incorporated the floating Mummy too (La Momie voltigeante) common to many Wandering Mummy versions. A good friend of Dr. Weyeneth was Charly Eperney, the French/Austrian magical scholar who is best known for his detailed book “Enzyklopädie der Mikro-Magie”. Charly appears to be the inventor of The Wandering Mummy as we know it today by taking Dr. Weyeneth’s creation and adding the second sarcophagus and second mummy. The Cat of Raskhenotep is based on Dr. Weyeneth’s “Vanishing Mummy”. You can read more about the Wandering Mummy here.
Effect: I just received this gem from France’s master magic craftsman. Francois has a essentially trimmed down the classic wandering mummy to a fantastic close up piece. You tell a whimsical story about a tomb where a team of archeologists find a mummified cat that has a rare gem inside of it and the cat can levitate (really!) and when put in a sarcophagus for safe keeping vanishes in one moment only to reappear in the next.
What Fun this is. And of course this deluxe illusion is made out of the finest materials i.e. maple, ebony etc. No sleight of hand needed just a good presentation and you have a great micro magic illusion!
