1 review for The Oriental Bead Rack (#2 of 3) by Louis Paul Productions, Joseph Ovette

This effect was invented by Joseph Ovette and is described in his book Tricks and Illusionettes (D. Robbins, 1944). This prop, in a much simpler style, has also been recreated before by Bill Tresslar as the Color Abacaus.
But the version that Louis Paul custom created for me blows away previous versions. As usual Louis has built a perfect prop that is beautiful and functional and spares no detail in the manufacture. This unit comes with multiple spare beads which are very easy to switch out if you wanted a different color to force.
The problem I have with this prop is coming up with a routine that does justice to Louis’ creative work. Hopefully my Speed Demo will give you an idea of the effect I am shooting for, though unfortunately I really need three spectators to demonstrate it fully.
Whatever routine you decide to use this prop I have no doubt you will love it 🙂
Effect: Louis Paul Productions is proud to offer, “The Oriental Bead Rack” from the creative mind of the late Great (Joseph) Ovette. This elegant looking prop brings you an indispensable accessory for forcing a desired color. Many magic effects in which silks, paper, ribbons, etc., are used, sometimes it is necessary to force a color to make it appear as a free choice.
The Oriental Bead Rack was designed to look like an antique, Chinese counting board. One outstanding feature is being able to change the force color in just a few minutes using NO tools.
Hand crafted in all-natural Walnut. Solid brass rods, thumb screws & rod sockets. Finished with a hand rubbed oil & wax finish to give it a low luster, satin glow finish. The wooden beads are hand painted with a durable enamel coating.
Each Oriental Bead Rack comes with extra wooden beads so you can force the following colors: Blue, Yellow, Red, Black, White, Green, Orange.
Each Oriental Bead Rack will be numbered & stamped with the Louis Paul Hallmark for a true collector’s item.
The Oriental Bead Rack stands 12” Tall and is 13” Wide.
