Visual Card Transformer by Wild Magic
(c. 2004) (Submit Review) (Submit Update)This appears to be a rebranded version of Astor’s Visible Card Frame though the years are out. I’m guessing that Astor made them before 2008, as it is hard to believe that Wild Magic created this themselves as plastic was not their specialty.
This frame is a version of The Enchanted Card Slide originally invented by Professor Nishan Andounian and sold and marketed c. 1929 by Joe Berg at Joe’s Princess Magic Shop in Chicago. The best version comes from Eddy Taytelbaum as can be seen here.
Effect: A card is selected and returned to the deck by an audience member. The deck is shuffled and spread on the table. The performer brings out a small black frame and explains he is going to “scoop” the chosen card out of the deck.
The magician makes a sweeping motion just above the spread of cards and a card magically appears in the frame. But it’s not the chosen card! Performer asks for the chosen card to be named.
The magician tips out the “wrong” card from the frame but when it lands on the table it is discovered to be the selected card!
