This was a great effect until it stopped working! Bad points are it is very heavy for a “light heavy” box but was cool to be able to have the spectator open and close. Sadly, after being on display and only used about 3 dozen times, it stopped working. When I contacted Gimpy, he said there was nothing he could do to fix it even when I sent it to him. Very disappointed in his lack of care for people spending pretty hefty amounts on his products.
I purchased the Mutilated Parasol by Abbott’s I paid over $500.00. When I received it I was in shock. I opened the package and the hankies looked small and torn. When I opened the umbrella, black paint chips fell all over the floor. There were white spots that I needed to re-paint. I also noticed that the change bag was not working properly either. I had to fix it.When I opened the Umbrella, it would not stay open and I had to hold it open. I noticed that the youtube videos with Marty and Duane Laflin performing it and the demo video online were versions of this effect from years ago that Abbott’s no longer sell. I was not aware of this when I bought it. This was very misleading to me. They should state that what you see is not what you get. Since they will not tell you, I am telling you. What they sell now is terrible. I just threw mine in the garbage. Do not ever buy from Abbott’s. I specifically wrote in my order to please check the product before sending it out. They obviously did not. Yours truly, Vincent. This is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So Help me God.
Very Disappointing Compared to Mikame’s Usual Standards
First, this is properly known as a "mini" pom pom pole because it is practically pocket-sized. Though some may find this to be a benefit, I think it distracts from the trick because the performer has to fumble with awkward reaches to perform the trick. Additionally, the pom poms are poorly weighted, which causes the strings to get caught as they pass through the holes at each end of the pole. I own tons of Mikame Craft props because I consider them to be collector quality items. Unfortunately, this product may look good, but it operates very poorly. With a few modifications, it may work better (drilling bigger holes and adding weights to the pom poms). But for the price, it should work perfect out of the box. Pass this one by.
Have to say that when I got the coin set it was horrible. It had dings in the set the s**lls were bent and the faces were concave. I called Todd Lassen Up and he made every excuse up in the book for why the edges had dings and the face was concave including the fact that that is the way there supposed to be. He also would not fix them when i sent them to him and he sent them back and claimed that I damaged them . He had my credit card information in his house the day thieves broke into his house and stole coins and god knows what else information wise on orders he had filled or not filled. I have since decided to purchase my coins from Schoolcraft. I will never spend money with Todd Lassen again he is too unreliable. I do not recommend him at all.
This is nice made item. But I personally do not like the method, is not easy to do. And this is close up item, but extremely dangerous if you have people sorounding you, and you have to sit do this effect.
No guillotine in history had a metal blade that severed the victim’s neck without being bolted into some sort of block that added weight to its descent. The blade appears so light that it would just bounce up from a victim’s neck. My advice: Save up for something that will make your audience gasp when it’s revealed.
I am very sorry I purchased this product. Each product description I read spoke of how versatile and easy to use the Super Force Glass is supposed to be. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. First of all, every handling included in the instructions requires you to hide the "powerful secret" at the time of selection by holding the glass around half of its circumference. No given handlings will allow you to offer the glass by holding the stem only (as one retailer is pictured holding it). When offering the glass for billet selection, you are required to either hold the glass at a slight distance from the spectator (so they don’t contact the "powerful secret" when reaching inside), or you actually have to dump some billets from the glass into your hand before you can offer the selection. A more difficult (and very angly) handling is given, which is supposedly better, but let’s just say that not only does the glass still have to be handled around half its circumference, but you will be tenkai palming before and after the force. Not quite "easy as pie" as another retailer stated. The elegance of offering a selection to a spectator from a clear glass is quite appealing. Unfortunately, the Super Force Glass requires suspicious and sometimes even noisy handling which destroys all hope of a natural, elegant performance. The instructions are poorly written. It is also very overpriced for what you receive. I hope this review saves someone some money.
For me, this was an absolute waste of money. It was apparently made incorrectly as neither of the effects worked whatsoever. The construction itself was likewise shoddy. The only thing good about it was I now have an extra pair of dice.
