La Houlette by Douglas-Wayne

(c. 1994)

On page 125 of Modern Magic (1876) Professor Hoffman described The Rising Cards (La Houlette). In 1994 Douglas-Wayne Illusioneering, founded by George Richbark and Dave Dorsett, created this beautiful reproduction staying true to Professor Hoffman’s description. And what a beauty it is.

An elegant houlette rests atop a slender brass column. Three cards are chosen and returned to the deck which goes into the houlette. At your command the cards rise from the pack one at a time! You have complete freedom of movement because this prop is totally self-contained. Quiet watchwork mechanism and attention to detail make La Houlette a real winner!

Approx. Price: $395.00 (03/2009) ***

I just received this in the mail and it is a true work of art. I have never owned any of George’s work before, but he has done a very nice job with this piece. The workmanship is on par with anyone out there today.
